Rajput: The Princely clan.

- Ram Chauhan.

Let's take a quick look at our Origins and more:
We Rajputs of Rajasthan are the descendants of the Kshatriyas or warriors of Vedic India. Rajputs literally mean sons-of-kings. We are originally divided into thirty-six races and twenty-one kingdoms. Our brethren reside mainly in northern, western, eastern, and central states of India. Rajasthan having a very high concentration of Rajputs. As history states our ancestral kings were mainly remembered as warriors and as influential rulers. We also played an important role in the emergence of modern-day society in northern India. Rajput rulers were also prolific builders of beautiful palaces. Archaeological evidence and contemporary texts suggest that the Indian society had achieved significant prosperity during the rule of our forefathers.

Lifestyle and culture:

The Rajput ethos is martial in spirit, fiercely proud, loyal, and independent, and emphasizes lineage and tradition. The patriotism that runs in our blood is legendary, we choose death before dishonour. The trait of warriors in our community is to fight until the last man. We are very much proud of our glorious past and our 'steeped in tradition' roots. Even today we find great pride in carrying forth the values and tradition taught to us by our forefathers. There are over 15 million Rajputs all over the world and their clan still continues to grow.
Today although the independent India restricts the privileges of the princely title, there are many prominent Rajputs in every walk of life. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Indian cricket team captain; Arjun Singh, Senior Congress Leader; Preity Zinta- Actress; Kangana Ranaut - Actress are few shining stars of our community. We also have many distinguished jurists, educationists, scientists, engineers, politicians, doctors, philosophers, poets, and scholars as part of our large family.

Rajput Architecture in India reflects an indigenous tradition of religious architecture found in northern part of India.
Kumbhashyama, Jayastambha, Visvanatha Temple, Hawa Mahal , Meherangarh etc are veryery good examples of Rajput architecture.
